Local-first project work

Northstar CAD and Northstar Field are designed so core project/CAD/Collector work can remain local. Project files, survey observations, imported geometry, rasters and processing data are not automatically uploaded merely because they exist in a Northstar project.

Northstar Portal

Northstar Portal services are separate from project storage. When invoked, the Portal may handle authentication, entitlement, Northstar AI, God’s Eye and authenticated DEM/vector/data requests. Current Northstar projects are not uploaded or reconciled through a cloud project-sync workflow.

Managed Northstar AI

When managed Northstar AI is used, the user’s prompt plus relevant project context and deterministic tool results needed to answer or act may be transmitted through AeroGeo North’s managed backend to the configured AI service provider. The OpenAI API credential is held server-side and is not distributed to customers. Operators should not submit confidential, privileged, export-controlled or otherwise restricted information unless authorized to process it through the connected service.

Local fallback

If the managed AI service is unavailable, Northstar can fall back to its local project-aware Agent. Local fallback does not provide the same cloud model reasoning capability but allows the core project workflow to continue without requiring an OpenAI account.

Online address/location and terrain lookup

When an operator requests online terrain from an address or named location, Northstar may send the entered address/location text, derived geographic coordinates and requested area/extent to external geocoding, elevation, terrain or map-data providers needed to resolve and retrieve that data. Do not use a connected lookup for restricted location information unless you are authorized to send it to the applicable provider.

Third-party services

WebODM, online basemap/geocoding/terrain providers, NTRIP casters, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Metashape, Litchi and other optional integrations operate under their own terms and privacy practices when used. Northstar does not make those services part of the local-only workflow unless the operator invokes the relevant connected feature.

Commercial orders and support

AeroGeo North may retain purchaser identity/contact information, order details, licence records, payment confirmation and support correspondence as reasonably required to deliver the product, provide support, document transactions and meet legal/tax obligations.
